What are the Microsoft Packaged Services?

Packaged Services, a Microsoft Software Assurance benefit, are structured consulting engagements designed to help you get the most out of your software licence. Two of these services are offered by Hitachi Consulting as a Certified Microsoft Channel Partner: Business Value Planning Services (BVPS) for Microsoft products and SharePoint Deployment Planning Services (SDPS) for SharePoint Server 2007.

Up to 15 days of consultancy services as part of your Microsoft licence agreement

Based on your Microsoft volume licensing agreement, you can be entitled to a 3, 5, 10 or 15 day engagement. The level of services and deliverables is dependent on the duration and type of engagement. See below for further details.

Service Description
 A BVPS engagement is designed to help you identify, unlock, and capture the business value of your existing Microsoft assets. A SDPS engagement is designed to help your organisation plan an effective deployment of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.

  • Opportunity identification
  • Future state process design
  • High-level business case for the proposed solution
  • High-level change and implementation plan
  • High-level roadmap
  • A strategy briefing covering a high level SharePoint delivery roadmap [all engagements]
  • Recommendations for deployment planning [3+ days]
  • Review architectural design structure [5+ days]
  • Proof of concept in customer environment, focused on a single capability (collaboration, portals, ECM workflow or enterprise search ) [10+ days].

Eligibility under your Microsoft Software Assurance agreement to receive these benefits

These services are offered at no additional cost to eligible customers. You are entitled to benefit from this service if you

  • Are a Microsoft customer who has Software Assurance with your licence, and
  • Have eligible packaged service days available, and
  • Are considering deploying or have recently deployed Vista, Office and / or Office SharePoint Server.
