I had three main priorities during the recruiting process at Texas: People, challenge and change. I joined Hitachi Consulting right after finishing college and the first thing I noticed was the welcoming culture. At Hitachi Consulting everyone wants each other to succeed and works to make that goal a reality. I was nervous about my first project as a new consultant with Hitachi Consulting, where I would be working as a developer for a major airline. I was concerned that I was being put into a sink-or-swim situation. But all of my doubts were erased when I met the architect to whom I would be reporting. She helped me develop both the technical and business skills I needed to complete the project, and I could always rely on her for career guidance and constructive feedback. Before coming across the Hitachi Consulting booth last September at the career fair, I had never heard of Hitachi Consulting. In fact, I had not even considered consulting until the representative at the booth drew me in. And now looking back, these past eight months at Hitachi have flown by and been nothing short of exciting. When I began searching for my first "real job" out of college I had a list of criteria on my mind. I wanted a job that continually offered something new and different, that was challenging, that encouraged training and continual development, and I wanted a company that valued people and had a great culture. Hitachi Consulting has exceeded my expectations on all four criteria. The best thing about Hitachi Consulting is its culture. They offer many resources to assist your transition into the company, such as career advisors and mentors, as well as the welcoming and friendly environment. During my short time here, Hitachi Consulting is like one big family. We spend a lot of time together, we work hard together, and we build great relationships. I was unsure exactly what I wanted to do with my computer science degree during the recruiting process at school. At Hitachi Consulting I have already been exposed to many different technologies and project roles, something I think would have taken years in industry. I was confident in a classroom setting, but was nervous about applying that knowledge in a "real world" job setting.
