Steven S. Goodman

Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Steve Goodman is vice president and general counsel for Hitachi Consulting. In this position, Goodman oversees the legal, risk management and corporate governance aspects of the company's business; directs the legal and due diligence aspects of mergers and acquisitions; manages the legal issues associated with expansion of service offerings and the formation and negotiation of strategic alliances and joint marketing relationships; oversees the legal aspects of the company's equity program and regulatory compliance; manages domestic and international trademark, copyright and other intellectual property matters; directs the legal aspects of employment matters; prepares and negotiates professional services contracts, software and hardware licenses, confidentiality agreements, equipment and real property leases and other contracts; establishes foreign branches and strategic relationships with off-shore software development firms, and manages compliance with foreign and domestic laws governing overseas activities; leads the company's insurance program; provides legal support to branding efforts, marketing activities and public relations initiatives; manages litigation; assists in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures; and provides general corporate and regulatory counseling.

Prior to joining Hitachi Consulting, Goodman served as senior counsel for Grant Thornton LLP and as a partner at the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig LLP in Miami, Florida, the eighth largest law firm in the United States. At Greenberg Traurig, Goodman's varied practice included corporate transactions, intellectual property, employment law, litigation and communications law. Goodman joined Greenberg Traurig following a stint practicing communications law in the Washington, D.C. office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, one of the ten largest law firms in the U.S.

Goodman graduated with high honors from The George Washington University Law School and with honors from the University of Chicago. Between college and law school Goodman worked for two years as a consultant for the Management Information Consulting Division of Arthur Andersen, which later became Andersen Consulting and subsequently Accenture.
