RELATIONSHIP WITH HITACHI, LTD. AND OTHER HITACHI COMPANIES

What are Hitachi's goals for Hitachi Consulting? How does Hitachi Consulting support the overall business goals of Hitachi?
On Nov. 19, 1999, the idea of Hitachi Consulting was born in the "i.e. HITACHI plan" ("i.e." stands for "information electronics"). This plan was designed to leverage Hitachi's wealth of knowledge in information technology as a basis to become a "best solutions partner."

When Hitachi established Hitachi Consulting in November 2000, this helped drive the "best solutions partner" mindset, and was a core component of Hitachi's IT solutions business in North America, enabling the company to enter fully into the global IT solutions market.

One of Hitachi's business goals is to become a leading global provider of business and IT consulting services. Hitachi Consulting is helping fulfill this goal with other Hitachi Group companies.

How does Hitachi Consulting fit into the Hitachi family of companies?
Hitachi Consulting, with corporate headquarters in Dallas, is the business and IT consulting arm of Hitachi Ltd.

Hitachi Consulting's Board of Directors sets the strategic direction for Hitachi Consulting and a U.S. management team leads day-to-day operations.

Our board consists of:

  • Shinjiro Iwata, Vice President and Executive Officer, Chief Executive Officer of Service & Global Business, Information & Telecommunication Systems Group, Hitachi, Ltd.
  • John Maring, Executive Vice President, Hitachi Integration & Development, Hitachi Consulting
  • Yoshihiro Miyoshi, Executive Vice President, Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Systems Global Holding Corporation
  • Yoshihiko Mogami, Vice President and Executive Officer, Chief Executive Officer of System Solutions Business, Information & Telecommunication Systems Group, Hitachi Ltd.
  • Ryuichi Otsuki, Executive General Manager, Global Business Planning & Operations Division, Information & Telecommunication Systems, Hitachi, Ltd.
  • Philip Parr, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hitachi Consulting
  • David Rodman, Executive Vice President, U.S. Technology Solutions, Hitachi Consulting
  • Yoshinori Suzuki, General Manager, Finance Management Office, Information & Telecommunication Systems Group,
  • Michael Travis, President and CEO, Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Systems Global Holding Corporation

Do other Hitachi companies turn to Hitachi Consulting as their preferred provider of IT services for themselves or their clients?
We serve several Hitachi Group companies today in both the United States and Japan and the list continues to grow. Our business and IT capabilities allow other Hitachi Group companies to offer richer solutions to complement their products for their clients. Likewise, we will also leverage Hitachi's long history of innovative technologies for our clients.

We are currently working with a number of Hitachi companies, including Hitachi Data Systems and Hitachi Global Storage Technologies.

What does "Inspire the Next" stand for?
Hitachi introduced "Inspire the Next" in April 2000 as its corporate statement of value that is the promise of the Hitachi brand.

Hitachi's corporate statement "Inspire the Next" embodies the spirit of innovation, of being a technology leader, in not just creating but in applying, to be a catalyst of change and ushering in a new era. This yields the Hitachi corporate platform: "Society changes. Hitachi transforms it." Again, bringing to mind innovation, inspiration, integrity and leading-edge technology applied to solve problems and make life richer.

Is the Hitachi name helping the company compete?

Taking the name of Hitachi, a multi-billion dollar global technology leader, certainly helps level the playing field for us against larger consulting companies. The Hitachi name is helping open new doors, providing instant name recognition, credibility, and financial strength.

Do you suggest Hitachi's other services and products to clients?
We will recommend Hitachi products when we believe they are the best solution for our client, just as we do with our other alliance partners. And, that's one of the ways we look at the other Hitachi companies, as potential alliances, where working together we can bring richer solutions to our clients. We are looking for opportunities to leverage Hitachi's leading-edge technologies to clients, which can give us a direct advantage over the competition.
